The Best Beach Town in Peru: Máncora Beach, Peru (South America)

Updated: Jul 9, 2024

Such a picturesque and intimate beach town tucked in the north of Peru! It's the perfect destination for unwinding, rejuvenating, catching some waves, and indulging in delicious piña coladas! This is by far one of the best beach towns in Peru!

When you go to Mancora, set the intention of some serious R&R! This is the place to do it! I left here feeling rejuvenated and tan ;)

Recommended amount of time: 3-4 days but I could have totally stayed longer to enjoy a few extra days at the beach relaxing!

  1. Place of stay

  • Kimbas Bungalows: I'd rate this place a solid 9/10, and I only deducted one point because the breakfast could have been more substantial for the price. However, the rooms were clean and peaceful, complete with an outdoor shower and porch featuring seating and a hammock. The location is fantastic, with just a 3-minute walk to the beach and a 6-minute walk to the city center. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this Bali-inspired oasis! The pool was fantastic, with relaxing vibes. Additionally, they offer yoga classes, massages, and mosquito repellent for your convenience.

    • Highly suggest signing up for one of the yoga classes they offer, especially the 9 o'clock one featured at a gorgeous hotel Kichic.

2. Activities

  • Beach day: All of the beach is fantastic! There are tons of spots to lay and absorb some Vitamin D. If you go straight outside from Kimbas Bungalows to the beach, it is a quieter spot with chairs. Other restaurants near the main strip have chairs if you buy something! Or bring a towel and pick your own spot!

    • On the beach you can surf, jet ski, banana boat, ride horses, and get your hair braided.

3. Restaurants

You're lucky because Menu del Día is served pretty much all day every day on/near this street! If you're not familiar with Menu del Día, let me enlighten you: you get a starter (I recommend the ceviche), an entree, and a juice, all for just 15–20 SOL (4–5 USD). It's unbelievably affordable and unbelievably delicious!

  • Restaurante Cevicheria “MI JIRALY”: Great spot for barbecue and an even better spot for Menu del Día!

  • Must try the Lucuma Ice cream: Any spot on the main strip in this town has stellar ice cream!

From here, I set out to discover the wonders in Chachapoyas to visit the 3rd largest waterfall in the world!

Next stop: Chachapoyas via bus with a transfer in Chiclayo

Xoxo,

Chelsey
