Situated on the renowned and holy Lake Titicaca, this was my first stop in southern Peru after crossing over from Bolivia. Despite battling an upset stomach for weeks, my excitement to explore Peru was skyrocketing. Peru held a mythical energy for me and it felt like I was reaching the golden gates of a sacred land. Peru, after all, is sacred. Offering ancient and spiritual history, it's hard not to want to spiritually connect to the light while in the golden gates of Peru.
Crossing the border from Bolivia to Peru was a breeze, requiring nothing more than just a passport and a smile, granting you a 90-day stay from the country.
In Puno, activities are limited and revolve mostly around the floating islands of Uros. But, featured below are the top things to do in Puno, Peru. From here, continuing the journey northward via bus is highly encouraged.
Recommended time of stay: 1-2 days
Place of stay
Sol Plaza Hotel: On the more expensive side but desperately needed due to an upset stomach. A classy, well-located, incredible buffet breakfast all at the palm of your hand. Spacious rooms, good wifi, and comfy beds.

2. Activities
Uros; The floating islands: A man-made island that offers tourists the chance to enjoy a boat ride to visit the islands, sip coffee, and learn about history. No pre-planning was needed as I simply woke up, strolled down to the port, and hopped on the next available boat. I wouldn't recommend more than a few hours on the island. It is very touristy so make sure to bargain!
Visit Plaza Mayor de Puno & the Cathedral: The main square with a striking cathedral
3. Restaurant
Mojsa: The sole restaurant I tried during my stay. Offering excellent quality and a diverse menu, it's conveniently situated in the main square with a pleasant view.
Next stop: Cusco, Peru via bus (bought online)
Peace and love!
